How to make life changes easier and more sustainable
You feel tired all the time and it seems like the dial on your energy tank is always hovering towards the empty mark. But, weirdly, you’re sort of used to feeling this way. And you’ve made changes to your that help you to “handle it”. Which makes the thought of change more uncomfortable.
Deep down, you know you want to change, you want to put chronic fatigue behind you and re-discover that energised you who gets out and about and is in charge of your life. Yet, the thought of making a change and things getting worse is absolutely terrifying.

Change can be a challenge..
The truth is, we are all creatures of habit and habits are powerful things. Stepping out of your comfort zone and making changes isn’t easy for many people, particularly when there is a lot resting on it like your health and wellbeing.
We can feel scared that if we make a mistake, we may feel worse, and no one wants to feel like that. That’s why taking small steps can be the key towards seeing the changes in your energy levels and overall wellbeing that you are longing to see.
The power of taking small steps
Having felt ‘rubbish’ for so long, you’ve probably previously fallen into the desperation trap of throwing everything at it and making loads of changes all at once, in a bid to feel better. No wonder you’re worried about change.
The reality is, having a long list of things to change in your life can feel overwhelming, especially when you have limited energy. And if it doesn’t work as quickly as you hope, it is so down heartening.
Questions like what do I do first, how will I manage to do all this may come into your head and realise you don’t have the energy to cope and not making any change can seem like the safest course of action.
I get it. Being asked to do lots of things at once for anyone can be overwhelming and when you are exhausted it feels almost impossible to achieve.
This is why taking small steps, once thing at a time can be more powerful and ultimately effective.
Taking that first step – making a commitment to YOU
That first step out of your comfort zone and into the unknown is the hardest step . Yet it is the most important as it says you are making a commitment to yourself to do things differently from now on.
Believing you can change
That first step is like turning a switch that says I can change – things can be different.
It’s a big win
Starting to believe that change is possible can feel like a big win. It may even give you a burst of energy, especially if you have been putting it off for some time.
Give yourself a pat on the back
Making a change could have a positive effect on how you feel about yourself too, particularly if you have been giving yourself a hard time about not taking action.
You can feel proud of yourself for making a start and when you feel good about yourself, you may find yourself feeling better and more energised.
Lots of changes = Big change
So, you have taken the first step, you feel good about yourself and the change may make a little difference. Great. You now feel more confident about making another change. You give it some time to settle in and you notice you are feeling a little better and you feel you are ready for the next change.
Gradually, each change is building on the work you started. You could find yourself feeling more energised, and you may start to believe that you can get better.
This continues to motivate you to carry on making some changes.
Importantly you feel you are in control of this change.
It’s empowering.
